HR unplugged
Is HR today is truly as agile and collaborative as the current workplace needs and demands or is it time to reflect and redefine what HR today needs to offer in todays modern workplace?
At the end of 2015, who could have predicted those momentous events that defined 2016? We’re all probably wondering what 2017 will have in store for us, and at our last forum of 2016, we looked at the key trends and predictions that are set to shape HR next year, and beyond.**
Kindly hosted by BT at the BT Centre in Newgate, London, industry professionals met to discuss the role of HR in today’s workplace, and how we can best support people in our organisations in an increasingly digital world. As the employee voice becomes more prominent in the workplace, so collaboration, connectivity, specialism and innovation are set to be significant trends next year, and we’ll need to be ready for the impact that this has on culture and engagement, performance management, and leadership.
We were delighted to welcome Fiona Roberts, until recently HR Director for Volkswagen UK, and Keighly Droy-Whelan, HR Director for BT Wholesale and Ventures, as speakers during the forum. Their extensive experience and thought-provoking comments helped to shape discussions from all areas of HR, whilst throwing some brand new issues into the arena as well (so what is the hourly rate for a person who monitors the stress levels of chickens?!)
One thing was certain in all the discussions – ideas are vital to the speed at which an organisation moves forward to embrace the future, so let’s unplug those things that we’ve always done ‘just because’, and redefine what HR needs to offer to keep pace with that change.
